Should have a perfect eyesight. This is very important. Last week I met a person who was chucked out of aviation career because he was having problem with eyesight.
My friend has got in as a pilot now with a big private airline group in India, so I pretty much know what all he has been through. The academic part is as mentioned above. If you are looking ahead as a pilot aspirant then i would recommend you to join a foreign flying club for example any one in Australia. Trust me, you wont get anywhere if you thinking about doing your flying course in India ( you could guess how the system works here right). And you need at least 200hrs of flying experience in single and multiengine aircraft ( i believe its the combined time, you can check this with any flying club or agency). Then once you get this you get the Australian commercial pilot license. Now for flying in India, you have to convert this license to Indian pilot license from the DGCA( Directorate General of Civil Aviation). For this you have to undergo medical tests and written examinations of which am not very much sure. At any time may it be, you have to be medically fit. This is some of the information i have regarding being a pilot. I hope this has given some new information to you.
