Hi! can anyone help me regarding setting up a website.I want to know if it can be done free of cost?As lot of free hosting options are available.All that is required,is a regiteration and log in  module for some 40-50 users and ability to make post in it.It it feasible free of cost?Please help me out!

There are lots of options. If you are planning for a static site then www.byethost.com provides adfree option (Ads are shown only on 404 pages). You can just register and then also register for a free .co.cc domain and then start running your website.

Static in the sense? as I mentioned in the question, i want the registered users to make posts! also ability to view posts without logging in.How should i proceed?

there are several options if you look around. many services you asked for are provided by these hosting websites. you can set up forums, communities etc. and thus you can get your visitors join your site and post messages. but all these wont come cheap. they will have some cost involved. if are patient enough then you can do a little bit of research and find out some reliable hosting options.

Well, wat about the CMS ?wont that suit the needs that i have given above?i have downloaded few CMS like joomla,wordpress etc.. but i dont how to set it up....anybody having idea?wat kind of server is required for dat?does CMS require container like jsp ?

Look for hots having fantastico feature, ie they will have all these CMC's like joomla, wordpress etc in the hosting plan itself. These will be a few click installation which is easier.

You'll take time to learn to configure these things though. CMS basically require PHP and Apache server. If you are looking for a free server, using a CMS is risky because hundreds of links will be generated and there is no gaurantee about the reliability.
