Online shopping is a very convinient way to shop in todays world. And if it is from a trusted site, then it is perfectly tension free. Indian's do a bit of Online shopping, but it is mainly Tickets.
IRCTC's online reservation was a huge hit as everyone could avoid the long queues to get a ticket.It is one among the first 50 most popular sites in India.
I have done shoppping from EBay, it is a trusted site and the merchant feedback from users can be used to judge the retailers, so it is kind of risk free. Indians are not yet comfortable with the concept of online shopping.
It must be because they are not aware of how the payment is being made and is doubtful about the authenticity of the site.

For products that can be downloaded online shopping is a good alternative to shopping.
Yaa...i agree with you....Security concern is always there!But insufficient knowledge about the available security features that are really fraud proof is the main problem...with the SSL encryption,one can send private dat like credit card numbers without any tension....I think,there should be some awareness programs on how secure data transfers are done over the internet....Then,there would be boom in the online shopping .....
Yes Harish, you are perfectly right on that. But there is also another problem. Most of the internet users in India are using Dial up connections. So there are chances of getting timeout errors in between the transactions which can cause loss of money.
I think that too has an adverse effect of online shopping.
well yaa...i forgot about that part....hmmm....that part now is improving greatly...thanks to sincere efforts by bsnl!i was a dial up user till last year....as bsnl is available werever der is telephone line...i was able to get broadband internet connection...at my place there is no other ISPs ....again thanks to bsnl...so with that ...nw most of people are opting broadband...so keep ur fingers crossed...online business boom is geting closer ....
hi harish..i believe that online shopping is really reliable from my
personal experience...recently i ordered a blue tooth dongle for my
computer from e-bay...and when it reached me,i found that someone while
transportation had removed the device and i only checked after
signing the delivery form....so i thought i lost my money...but when i
wrote to their customer care,they shipped me a new dongle without
charging me anything and also apologized for the same... so its really
reliable now-a-days...
