Is the aviation industry in India going to crash?

The soaring fuel prices should have had a great impact on the aviation industry right? It is time we should be seeing some mergers coming up. Heard any news of companies cutting fleets or planning for mergers?

hmm... well..  yea the aviation industry...  we have been seeing quite alot with this field now..  airlines going on a buying spree.. there have been some real competition going on in Indian market.. A380 setting its mark..  there has been one major merger too..  kingfisher with air deccan..  Mallaya has got real brains..  kingfisher has not been for long time now unlike deccan, so for them to operate on the international route they gotta have good track record i mean they have to be a domestic player for sometime (some yrs).. so as of now kingfisher and deccan have merged, so kingfisher can use the brand to fly for international routes.. so easy way of gettin intl routes.. tats wot it seems.. so we might see the brand consolidating into one name..

with rising prices for fuel there are bound to be mergers. but india is such a booming market that even with the rising fuel prices it will be able to move along with support from other countries

"Industry estimates have said that the airline industry in the West was
losing $250 million to $300 million a day before they resumed reduced
normal flight schedules few days back. Domestic flights in the US are
still going half-empty, some airlines have said. An industry
association has forecast that traffic could be down 25 per cent to 65
per cent in the coming weeks and months as fearful passengers cancel or
postpone trips. "

So if Industry in us is going to crash then it can be happened in india also
